Summer is the perfect time to watch some scary horror movies while avoiding the heat for long periods of time, and this year several big-name Korean actors are taking on roles in the genre that will give you goosebumps.

1. Delusion

Bae Suzy, who recently appeared in the Netflix drama Doona! and the sci-fi soap opera Wonderland, also available on Netflix, is reportedly in negotiations to star in an intriguing vampire-themed series. The K-pop idol has been approached to star in Delusion, an adaptation of the popular webtoon of the same name by Hongjakga (Doctor Brain).

The story takes place in 1935 Gyeongseong (the name of Seoul during Japan’s colonial occupation of Korea from 1910 to 1945) and 19th century Shanghai.

The series follows a painter named Yoon Yi-ho who becomes increasingly obsessed with the mysterious vampire Song Jeong-hwa. The role was offered to Bae.

The film will be directed by Han Jae-rim, director of hit Korean films “The King” and “State of Emergency,” and who recently made her first foray into the world of TV drama with the Netflix series “The 8 Show.” A former member of K-pop band Miss A, Bae became a movie star thanks to her appearance in the hit romance film “Architecture 101.” Since then, she has appeared in many major Korean dramas, including “Vagabond,” “Start-Up,” and the critically acclaimed “Anna.”

Choi is considering the role of Jun-ho, who works in a refrigeration facility for an organization. One day, he discovers a special stone that gives him immense powers and turns him into a giant. He uses his newfound powers to infiltrate one of the organizations.

Choi is also known for series such as “Our Beloved Summer” and recently appeared in the Netflix drama “A Killer Paradox” and sci-fi series “Wonderland.” The project will be directed by Kim Tae-gon, who directed the disaster film “Project Silence,” which was selected for the 2023 Cannes Midnight Film Festival. “The Waking” is scheduled to air in 2025.
